Did you know?
The version of ‘Sultans Of Swing’ included on Dire Straits is a different (and earlier) recording than the previously released Sultans Of Swing single, which was re-recorded at the label’s request to sound more like the original demo.
‘Sultans Of Swing’, ‘Water Of Love’, ‘Down To The Waterline’ and ‘Wild West End’ had all been put to tape during the band’s first demo sessions at Pathway Studios. Those recordings were issued as a limited release for Record Store Day 2015 as The Honky Tonk Demos.
